Arrive when they open and stay til closing to see everything. This place is bigger than Legoland California. And it’s not just a zoo but a beautiful botanical garden as well so take a great quality camera or ensure your phone is fully charged when you leave your house.
Bring refillable water bottles and snacks. We came on a rainy Tuesday and most restaurants were closed, which was very disappointing.

Get there at opening. We waited over an hour to buy admission and then waited 90 minutes to board the 30 minute safari. Preferred the bigger Zoo downtown.
We didn't get to do the Safari and that might have made all the difference but we both think the Memphis Zoo is better and it's only about 1/3 the price.
