If it weren't for noise issues, I would give this hotel a higher rating. I chose this hotel because other reviews said it was quiet. I made it clear to management that I wanted a quiet junior suite. I was told I would be given the Sapphire Suite. Upon arrival, however, I was given the Tanzanite Suite, without an explanation why. The first night there I was kept awake by the live band, playing in a bar between the hotel and the beach. Then later I heard what sounded like an alarm system going off (twice). Just when I thought it couldn't get any worse, I was awoken around 5 a.m. by a crowing rooster! The next day, I mentioned the noise issues to staff, while noticing there were people vacating the Sapphire suite. I asked if I could move there, but was told that other people were moving from their room to that one. I then asked how much extra the penthouse would cost, and if it was soundproof. She said it was, and that it would cost us an extra 1500 pesos for the remaining 6 nights stay. I agreed, after viewing it. When I paid by credit card, I noticed that it was $1500 US dollars, not pesos! I had to cancel the transaction. So, out of 7 nights, I had 3 decent nights sleep. The other 4 nights were met with loud music until 2 a.m., what sounded like construction noise at 3 a.m. one night, and the rooster alarm clock most mornings.
