"The pictures on line are older, and do not reflect present conditions. We enjoyed our stay, great location. BUT, the place badly needs to be updated and is not well maintained. Just a lot of little things. The biggest problem was that the host was not truthful when asked about the hot tub. I specifically asked if it was working (because of earlier reviews) and was told it was working, it was not, probably has not worked in awhile, the pump motor is buried in sand. "Stayed here with 3 others and found the location to be very accommodating. The location fit our needs with respect to private parking, security, and location to the beach. We were also able to cook meals in the kitchen which added to the convenience. Avellanas is a great beach town and the beach was a short walk away. It was nice lounging around in the hammock and enjoying the scenery. I would gladly go back."

"Stayed here with a group of 5. There was plenty of room for us in the house, it didn't feel cramped. The property was nice and secure and the hammocks were great to lounge in. We all felt like the walk to the beach was fine and would consider it the definition of walking distance. Would highly recommend this place for a group looking for an authentic Tico experience."

"Wonderful property, perfect for our multi-generational family. Ana from Yellowfin Tours became our go between with staff, a big help and Google translate! Jimmy house manager was right on any issues! Mercedes and her crew kept us cleaned up and the pool guy was great! We used the recommended Chef for 3 nights, very good and very reasonable. We did rent the golf cars to get around town and to the restaurants and grocery. Sure beat the price of rental car we didn’t need, all our tours pick us up...

"Great walkable location near beach suitable for several families. We had street parking but the overnight security made us feel very safe. Any immediate questions/issues were addressed quickly. The only real negative was a dishwasher that did not work very well. We found the pool to be a real necessity…enjoyed it and the inside/outside family areas."

"We had a wonderful time at Las Casas Velas. Perfect spot for good surfing, enjoyed yoga and the juice bar in town and the endless beach. Would highly recommend the chef for good, unfussy food and ease. Will be back!"
