Interesting place

So there’s nice to say about the place it was clean, right on the bay. It was also not a place for kids it’s very adult the homeowner has in my opinion way too much personal stuff. So many locked cabinets. Not much storage space in rooms other than master which is indeed unique. While I love technology, this place had way too many mislabels remotes. Too many stairs and huge step down to the living room. So definitely not recommend for littles. It’s best suited for couples. Also the owner “stopped” by a few too many times to pick up deliveries that’s a bit strange when I’m staying somewhere it is mine to enjoy. He was very nice but a bit intrusive even walked in once which was way weird. Anyway I don’t want to give a bad review as it’s a good home for couples just not families. Also AC that functioned for downstairs/kitchen and office bedroom didn’t cool things down so if it hot out I don’t recommend we happened to be there when it was warmer than normal. Shower on the floor with kitchen needs a new faucet it’s very fickle. Also needs an umbrellla or two on the patio as the morning sun is brutal. Overall if we had just been a couple not family I think the experience would have been much better.

Needs 100 Stars!

If anyone rates this less than 5 stars, then I feel sorry for you. We had rented on the beach side last year and it was miserable. The beds, the noise, the lack of standard items…. This year we found this house - Sleek Retreat- by accident. It looked amazing but I was apprehensive. My husband and I, our adults kids and their spouses, and our dog stayed here. Checked in on Saturday afternoon and checked out the following g Sunday. From the moment we stepped in, it was amazing. Mirrors everywhere. Glass. Step down living room. HUGE HUGE cantina doors. A great patio with steps to the bay. We knew we were in a special place. Not your typical beach house. This one had its own personality. A HUGE personality that needs guests who can appreciate the grandiose-ness of what a great home it is. The kitchen is fully stocked with supplies and spices. Ice machine, keurig, double door fridge, dishwasher, bar area. The bedrooms each have their own personality too. We were 6 adults and EVERYONE loved their rooms and beds. OMG THE BEDS!!! The first night we laid down, it was like a soft hug. We all slept so well!! The drop down shades kept the sun out when you wanted it. We made dinner every night except our last night. We treated the house with care as we know we want to return. There are beach chairs and games galore. The ROOFTOP!!! Amazing!!!! You do share with the neighboring house - just respect the rules which is easy. Towels galore. A quick walk to the Pacific side or get a paddle board and enjoy the bay. I had emailed the office a couple of times with questions and they were SO responsive!! We live in Del Mar but our kids are out of town so this is a great vacation for all of us. Our dog loved the place as he watched people walk by. He enjoyed the bay walks and water. Honestly I don’t think you will find a more comfortable and welcoming home in the area. Maurice - you and your staff are wonderful and thank you for sharing your home with us!

Perfect location

Wonderful property, plenty of room, host was very accessible and accommodating. Super close to the beach, restaurants, shopping, attractions. Watched fireworks from Sea World most evenings. Relaxed on the rooftop deck or patio every morning and evening. Don't let the rental car place talk you into a larger car or suv. Garage is tight with two vehicles and parking up and down the beaches can be a challenge. Definitely recommend staying here!

Great house with a lot of details

We enjoyed the house very much, the owner is very friendly and communication with him was great. The house has a lot of lights with smart switches, the lighting in the house is amazon, the location and the view are great. We walked to the beach everyday. I was a little bit disappointed that the SPA on the roof was removed.

Amazing house on Bay

Our stay at the Sleek Retreat was wonderful. Maurice was so responsive to our questions and an excellent host. The house is as pictured and had so many high end touches, it was a joy to stay there. It is really best for only 6-8 guests. The location on the Bay was great (amazing views) and is in our favorite section of Mission Beach, with amenities all in walking distance. A very special and impressive house!!

Daughters Wedding Trip 2019

The property was in a perfect location for us. It was clean and had everything we needed. The views were beautiful both morning and night. We did have an issue with the freezer but the host resolved that within a day. The temperature in the house was great early in the morning and after the sun went down. But in the middle of the day/afternoon, we could not get it to cool down below 80 degrees to a comfortable temperature and therefore we were hot and a bit miserable during those times. There needs to be a better system in place to make the guests feel more comfortable. When all 12 of us were in the house, it was not pleasant unfortunately. We spoke to the host many times, trying to get the temperature to cool down to no avail. Closing the blinds was suggested but that took away our views and we definitely paid good money for the views! :) All in all, it was a good experience and we were happy to be there!

Live Like a Contemplative Rock Star

Do you like front row seats, fast Italian cars, private jets, exclusive zip codes and people asking....."who are they?" Good, because for once, you are in luck! Maurice, The King of the Beach, has your vacation rental property. This house is EVERYTHING advertised in architectural luxury; period! But there is that other qualifier that makes Monaco, Monaco....... location, location, location! It is a perfect flip flop walk down the footpath and around the corner to Tower 17 Mission Beach and its associated bustle. But, when you roll open those 12' tall multi-slide glass doors onto pastoral Mission Bay and slide into a chair on your ground level veranda, you can comfortably invite Thoreau or Monet over for conversation about the peace and quite of sailboats resting at moorage in the calm bay water just across your 200' nearly private beach. Our family got this year's property choice right for our annual, SD Beach reunion, and Maurice truly is the King of engaged, beach house rental service. We will be back next summer!

Gorgeous Home - Fabulous Hospitality

Our family LOVED the Sleek Retreat. Maurice and his wife were so hospitable, giving us a tour of their gorgeous property and answering any questions we had at a moment’s notice. The home is right on the sand in Mission Bay, which is a comfortable 5-10 degrees warmer than the ocean side but only a short walk away. We paddle boarded in the bay, played volleyball and laid in the sun. We spent sunsets walking to the ocean or in the rooftop jacuzzi. Our teens loved being minutes away from all sorts of shops and restaurants. I loved being able to order food and groceries from the comfort of the beautiful patio with a lemon drop in-hand. We will be exclusively renting from the “San Diego Beach King” from here forward!

We will be back! Loved our amazing retreat!

Wow!! First time to California and won’t be the last! The house was perfect for a mother daughter getaway (and our 2 dogs) vacation. 10 days of beautiful views of the Bay and the house was absolutely amazing. Very clean and spacious. The house opened up completely to the bay where I had my morning coffee and watched the sunrises. Very impressively, the whole house was controlled by phone. Lights, stereo and key pad entries. So nice not to worry about keys and key cards. Our dogs Ellie and Boss settles in right away which made the vacation all the more enjoyable. Maurice, the owner was very friendly and went out of his way to accommodate our stay. Wish we could have stayed longer. Maurice and Carmen we will be back! Thank you!

Nice home, but not exactly what was expected from pictures and description.

Although Maurice is a gracious host we felt this property is a bit oversold. The home is beautiful and for the most part well-kept. Where we were disappointed: (1) By the pictures it looks like the living area is much larger than it is because of the wall of mirrors (2) It looks like the windows open up to a playable waterfront that is in fact, a parking pond for boats. The playable waterfront is the ocean two blocks behind the property so don't think you can watch your children play in the water from the home (3) The on-demand hot water was very difficult for us to manage, neither of the two showers upstairs had hot water in 7 days (4) The master bedroom is a loft and wide open to the living area - beautiful view but no privacy for even a private conversation (5) Sleeping 12 (we did not have 12 people in our party) means that a blow up bed is in the kitchen and another at the garage entrance (6) There is no place to unpack for a seven-night stay because the home is full of personal home-owner items and most cabinets/closets are locked and shelf space is full of nick-knacks, therefore, we lived out of suitcases on the floor crowding the bedroom space (7) The sleek décor of the home is crowded by many not-so-clean decorative pillows (at least 10 on the sofas and many on the beds that are not shown in any pictures) that end up wasting more space as they are set aside for 7 days (8) Cleaning supplies including broom are old and worn and did not work well Where we were pleased: (1) Maurice accommodated an early check in for us (addtnl $193.38) (2) Maurice was quick to respond to any questions I asked once we were in the property (3) The location was convenient (4) The available blow-up mattresses were easy to use.

Great location, great house, great host.

We spent a week at this very unique property and it was perfect for our family. We had plenty of space, every imaginable technology (all of which worked easily and had great instructions for). The setting, looking out on the bay is beautiful and we sat every evening on the rooftop deck to enjoy the amazing sunsets. It’s also close to everything and easy to access. Finally, Maurice could not have been more friendly or helpful - he was available at all times to answer questions about the house, make restaurant recommendations, and explain options on what to do while in San Diego. We would go back gladly at any time.

Stunning

Stayed for a week in this stunning bay front property. We stay on the bay in Mission Beach every year, but this place takes the cake. The floor to ceiling bay front windows slide aside to open the entire place up. The kitchen and dinette are 1/2 floor above the living room and share the same great view. Two bedrooms and another bed in the den worked out well for us this year. The master bedroom overlooks the bay as well with great sunrises to start the day. Walking distance to watercraft/bike rentals and taquerillas. Maurice was informative and helpful. He rightly takes pride in this great property and wanted to make sure we were happy. If you are in the southland and want a waterfront vacation - this is it.

Great house. Great for family and small dog. Perfect location.

We stayed for a week in late July. Weather was great. Location is great. On the quiet bay side, with enough activity during the day, but quiet at night. House was amazing. Main room with fireplace is great for getting everyone together. We slept 5 very comfortably. We brought our small puppy, who slept in a crate. Fortunately because of the floor plan the small dog was comfortable too. Be aware that this is modern design so it may be missing things like towel racks and handrails. Lots of high tech so you may need to read the provided instruction manual to figure out how things work. Overall a unique experience.
