Dear Karen We pride ourselves on our consistent 5 star rating so found it disconcerting to say the least that you would give us such a low review. You never once, in your four day stay, communicated any of your concerns to me, and as such there was no opportunity for me to assist and rectify the issues you have raised in this review. That’s quite unfair. All our guests know that I am available before and during their stay. In response to the issues you have raised: 1. The second double bed is a fold out bed located in the sunroom where the single beds reside. You did not request for it to be made up. As it is a lounge, it does not stay permanently made up as a bed, unless requested by a guest. 2. The door that is locked with a ‘private’ sign is the storeroom where all the clean linen and cleaning products are stored. This is not a bedroom. 3. The spare sheets for the single beds are located in the white blanket box next to the single beds. 4. The man you saw through the window was doing some maintenance on the house and gardens. This aside, the house has three apartments in total so it’s not unusual for guests to see other guests or indeed in this case, the owners. 5. The request to remove your shoes is not an uncommon one. The house slippers are there for guests to either use or not use. Walking in socks is acceptable and was an option for you other than being barefoot. 6. I am responsible for cleaning this beautiful apartment and I take great care and pride in my work. I do not believe there were any such sticky surfaces, however, as you did not raise it with me at the time, we will never know. 7. The cleaning fee that you pay covers the changing of all sheets, linen, kitchen and bathroom clean and all floors, sills, including the outdoor area. It takes 2 hours. We ask our guests to leave the apartment in the same or close to condition as it was when arriving. Unfortunately, some guests had left such a mess in the kitchen we felt that a reminder to leave the kitchen tidy was in order. My apologies if you took offence to that request. 8. I think that you did not read the listing description in it’s entirety and had you have done so, you would have realised that your private apartment was upstairs. I sincerely hope that you enjoyed the wine and chocolates that were left for you and I strongly recommend that you raise issues and concerns as and when they occur in the future and not one week after you have departed the property.
