We rented this huge home for my husband's birthday. Communication with the owner and staff started out very pleasant and they were very responsive.
Trying to find the house with no street lights or phone signal was very hard. The area looked a little sketch, but the home is gated so you do feel a tad bit better once inside. When we finallly arrived, the house maid decorated and had a cake waiting for my husband which I asked to setup and my husband was surprised and thankful. We knew the home was on a large lot and would have insects and critters, however no one told us that there was no running water for the toilets. The home is considered eco friendly (which is okay, if they made us aware from the beginning). We also had 2 large spiders (which I'm allergic to) in our room and bathroom, so we could not stay (even with the toilets not having running water we considered staying, but I am allergic to spiders). My guests were not comfortable either, so we moved to a hotel.
We called the owners the next morning and they were very pleasant and apologized for any inconvenience and said they couldn't spray the home and area as much because it is eco-friendly. They assured they would refund us for the stay minus the night we stayed and for the cake. Since then, they have not responded to any messages or refunded our money as promised. We paid for a home we could not stay in, and hotel rooms for 6 guests (since it was technically our fault for picking the location)... what a gift to my husband's wallet for his own birthday...
If we knew the area was not as described, we would have choosen another property.
