I’m writing this not as a negative review, but as a more accurate description than the listing provides. The accommodations are misrepresented and managing expectations is key. Had the listing been more accurate, and I chose to stay here knowing these things, the review wouldn’t be necessary.
Cabin: the professional photos are misleading. Space is much smaller and the floors are sloping, in various directions, with slanted walls, which caused a bit of vertigo.
“WiFi”: with WiFi I was able to send short texts to other iPhone users, but not androids. (The owner has an Android so, unable to communicate by text.) Photos generally went through as well. The last evening the connection was slow so I couldn’t even plan my last day using All Trails or just general google searches- the pages would not load. I couldn’t even get the weather app to load.
“Well appointed” kitchen: one person can kind of fit in this space, the appliances do function. If you cook anything, good luck cooling the cabin down to sleep.
Cleanliness: when I opened the coffee maker the first morning the previous filter was still in it, containing molding coffee grounds. There was a preused sponge to clean dishes with. I definitely would have preferred a new one. The soap dispenser at the sink is not dish soap (or was maybe diluted/very inexpensive), nor was there a bottle under the sink; the soap would not cut through residue left from pan frying a steak. In Covid times, this made me concerned about all other cleaning. The owner did leave disinfectant spray.
Shower: is the tiniest (!!!) with about 5-7 minutes of hot water. I’m a small/normal female and I barely fit inside the shower. Washing my hair was especially difficult. The hot water ran out very quickly. (Again, a heads up, managing expectations, that after a full day of hiking, you have just a few minutes of hot water, would be nice. This would be especially disappointing in the winter.)
Photos with the view: I have no idea where the photos were taken, certainly not the front porch of the cabin and the area is too overgrown (also misrepresented in the photos) to walk around either side of the cabin to the back.
Again, a more accurate description should be given so people know what to expect before choosing whether to stay here.
