I booked this property on a last minute whim to visit the Big Bend area during the dark of the moon and attempt some Milky Way photography over mountains, in Nov (not ideal alignment, but supposedly nice weather odds.) The weather did not cooperate entirely with wind and clouds much of the time, but the visit itself was very relaxing. The owners were kind and extremely friendly people, doubly so considering I was there over a holiday and they had family visiting. I was made very welcome.
I believe this room is a converted carriage house or detached garage off the main owner's home, but extremely well done. Construction solid and quiet - you know the way "good" sounds when you close a door. The room itself is very nicely appointed with an excellent firm mattress, well insulated and very efficient heating. The shower was clean and got hot quickly, in all everything you need for a stay. Plenty of towels, choice of bed layers and extra pillows. There were adequate outlets for charging, etc. There is no TV which for me was fine but noting it in case it influences anyone else.
I believe they may have a boarder from the nearby college in a room upstairs from this room but the sound insulation was sufficient and I rarely heard any indication of him at all. The kitchen is apparently shared with this individual but again, zero issues: clean, well equipped, plenty of fridge space, microwave, oven, hot water pot, very good coffee and a french press, etc. Outdoor patio space around the room looked very inviting but given the time of my visit and weather I did not take advantage.
If I had any *constructive* suggestions: (1) I wish there were a couple coasters in the room, I felt guilty about possible condensation on the desk and was using folded paper towels from the kitchen, (2) the welcome instructions give you the wifi password but NOT the wifi access SSID name, and there were something like 20 in range of my phone! It took me a few tries to guess the right one and stop trying to hack the neighbors . Entirely trivial issues offered solely in the interest of helping!
I want to thank the owners for a great visit (so great in fact I extended for a night to take advantage of clearing weather!)
